Pause and resume functions

Pause a function during maintenance so new events do not start its runs. Inngest still receives and stores those events, but skips the paused function.

Pause safely

1. Open the function in the dashboard and choose Pause from All actions.
2. Choose what happens to existing runs. The current dashboard offers pause after the active step, with cancellation after seven days by default, or immediate cancellation after the active step.
3. Inspect in-progress runs and record the pause time for later recovery. Inngest does not interrupt a running step. A paused function does not start new runs from incoming events.

Resume and recover

Choose Resume from the function's actions. New events can trigger it again. Events received during the pause do not run automatically. If they must be processed, create a Replay for the paused time range and include Skipped status. Include Canceled if you also need to recover runs canceled during the pause. The available history depends on your plan's retention. Use run cancellation when you need to stop a particular run rather than pause an entire function.
