Keep runs correct

• Idempotency: Stop duplicate events and runs from repeating work.
• Versioning: Change step IDs, order, or branching without breaking runs that are already in progress.
• Testing: Check steps, waits, and retries before you deploy.

Structure your work

• Patterns: Choose between fan-out and loops for repeated work. For AI agents, see Durable agents.
• Middleware: Add shared clients, error reporting, or encryption across functions.

Operate and tune

• Logging: Add run context to logs without duplicates when a run resumes.
• Checkpointing: Configure how steps run back to back, especially on serverless hosts.
• Writing expressions: Match events and set keys with CEL expressions for triggers, waits, cancellation, and flow control.
